QuoteRamsFanSinceLA I happened across this article and thought it was interesting since in the 2016 draft the board was pretty split between Goff and Wentz. For the record, I was in the Wentz camp but now I'm glad we have Goff. As for the article, the "game winning drive" is a big criteria in evaluating the "eliteness" of NFL QBs and Wentz's record in that area isn't good.by zn - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteSpeed_Kills just two weeks ago he was the best player in football... he gets banged up and now its AD again people are too quick to say this is the best or that is the best... for the record I love Donald what I don't like is how quickly people bailed and started calling Mack the best while Donald was warming up and now just as quickly Donald is the best its crazy Best post on thby zn - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteCraigMatson Funny Fred Miller didn't come to mind he was very competent for a while yes. But by the time they played the Patriot s it was Tucker and the guy they blew it by starting. Have is very competent also . Really hard to differentiate thier output /efficiency . There was no PFF back then as far as review service. Seems like Miller did well against the Freak (Kearse/) lol. QuoteLMU93 I agree. It is more about chemistry and the sum being greater than its parts. And playing with great intelligence. But I would put the overall physical dominance of this OL a little above 1999-2001. Yeah I agree with that. It just seems that when the GSOT OL had to tough out a couple of yards, that wasn't in their resume.by zn - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotejemach Littleton isn't even 1a. At best...a distant 2. Add the 5 QB hits, 9 tackles, 6 of those for losses. Littleton played great but his sacks are a function of pressure by others....like Donald. Littleton was a pass rushing DE in college. The same thing that makes him good at sacks is what makes him a leading punt blocker. Granted any D that includes Donald has an advanby zn - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteLMU93 You can debate player vs player at various positions. But as a whole unit this one is probably the best they have had since the 1983 and 1984 OLs with Slater, Harrah, Smith, Hill, Pankey and Bain. Yes as a unit they play as well as any unit since the classic 80s guys. But then, that OL had stellar talent. Quote73Ram I think it is impressive, but that is the type of player he is...smart and disciplined. His play isn't pretty...but it is very effective. He was this way in college and now the pros.....very talented I would say he is very workmanlike, and smart, and disciplined, and that his play is not pretty but when he's at his best he gets it done. I'm not sure they liked me around or not because I was terrible about questioning them. :laughing In all my conversations with them I'd have to say the #1 thing I heard was "It wasn't really like that". :laughing Some things worse, some not as bad as the 'myths'. QuoteRinconRam I think your defensive player of the game might still be Cory Littleton - led the team in tackles, gets 2 sacks of his own from the secondary, and oh yeah - there was that devastating punt block on special teams. Love this guy!!! #ExtendLittletonby zn - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteJamesJM Interesting stuff there, zn. Yeah a lot of it is a little obvious or pedantic, but there are also details that I never knew before. Fun listens, I thought.by zn - Bucky's Pub
QuoteRam_Ruler Another example of our coaches/scouts seeing talent where others don't. And I'm sure coaching helps too Blythe is not doing well because of physical talent. He fits what the Rams are doing, but, there's about a dozen and a half to 2 dozen other more talented guards in the league who would do as well or better on this OL this year. And that's not to take anything away fromby zn - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRockRam What's the opinion around here? Has Suh played up to a $14mil guaranteed contract? Is Suh worth it? Absolutely yes. With no outside rush, unless there was someone next to Donald to draw attention, the Rams might not have a pass rush. I leave the dollars per tackle approach to others. B)by zn - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteCraigMatson No don't tell all. Spies are everywhere. Besides Ran might have to investigate a leak if you do. Very serious the more on Bram you are. If you listen to things Sullivan and Whit are saying, there really is something different going on, just in terms of how they approach game prep. And it's not secret (or the players wouldn't talk about it) and you can't copy it unless yby zn - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 All I know is that this Kromer coached OL is very danged effective. This stuff is all new to how Kromer does things.by zn - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteCraigMatson There is an excellent Synergy . I think Gruttendaria ,Nutten ,Tucker ,...or whoever was on the right opposite Pace and Timmerman we're not as Good as Sullivan or Havenstien. So yeah I'd agree. I disagree. I think that if you put the 99 versions of Nutten and Miller on this line in 2018, they would do as well as Blythe and Hav. Hav is not a better ROT than Miller.by zn - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRamgator Even better than the GSOT years. I know the offensive scheme helps but even under Martz, Warner AND Bulger got CREAMED with a lethal attack AND one of the best blocking RBs ever in Faulk. Late in the game yesterday was proof of how good the line is.....ZERO intent to pass and our 2nd runner nailing it. The classic great Rams OLs were a combination of talent and scheming. QuoteSpeed_Kills but what Shanny is doing scheme wise with those players just shows me that the Niners are going to be a handful once they get the roster together and get over the injury bug that has just devastated them I don't like the Niners but I got eyeballs ...the scheme is ridiculous... the loss of McKinnon and JG killed them. Quote21Dog but they're also feeling the effects of some of their recent top draft choices like Solomon Thomas and Arik Armstead performing well below their draft status, especially Thomas, who's being called a bust already. But the issue with the 2012-2016 Rams is the opposite of that. They had great drafts overall yet rarely fielded both a starting caliber qb and a relatively healthy OL atby zn - RamsFootballFans.com
Actually I think it IS the subject. You want to account for how SF is doing and how they look in 2018, the huge defining issue is injuries. For the Rams it was the exact same thing in 2007, 2009, 2011, half of 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. And in my experience it is often a challenge to get some to factor that in at the level it needs to be factored in. ....by zn - RamsFootballFans.com
Cause the primary thing with SF is injuries this year. And sometimes people just don't account for that for some reason. To be fair that's not just a Fisher thing. The Rams have had massively injured teams with 2nd string qbs starting because of injuries going back to 2007. Like in 2007 where the OL suffered multiple injuries all season yet to this day some still think the problems on offby zn - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteDavid Deacon Now they are using him to rush the passer which is nice. He seems to have a knack for it. He is just a great all round player what a find he has been. Quoteferragamo79 Niners at one point were playing their 4th and 5th corners (one a rookie) It looked like a conscious choice. Not only were the 9ers banged up in the secondary, but they clearly were committing to defending the run first. The Rams running didn't pick up until the 4th quarter.
