IMO yes and no

Even better than the GSOT years. I know the offensive scheme helps but even under Martz, Warner AND Bulger got CREAMED with a lethal attack AND one of the best blocking RBs ever in Faulk. Late in the game yesterday was proof of how good the line is.....ZERO intent to pass and our 2nd runner nailing it.

The classic great Rams OLs were a combination of talent and scheming.

This one does not have the same talent. Whitworth and Saffold are up there but Blythe and Hav are more "system fits" than great all around talents.

Kromer has always fielded good OLs. And it is not rare for a player to look good with him who did not look that good before him or did not do as well after he is no longer their coach.

BUT the real difference IMO is that McVay has facilitated a game prep approach that elevates what a guy like Kromer does.

Listen to the players talk about this. They are saying that the Rams approach to game prep is different. The entire "McVay is a teacher" thing has spread throughout the offensive coaching ranks, and as a result, the Rams just do things in game prep none of the players on the line remembers doing before.

The linemen talk about this. They say they understand what the D is doing on any given play better than they ever have (and Sullivan and Whit have been on some great lines, and Saffold has been on some good ones when they weren't completely banged up).

They're doing Next Level stuff.

This means that Kromer is set up to do more than he ever has before, and more than great Rams OL coaches in the past like Hanifan and Boudreau ever did.

I'm being kind of vague about what it is they're doing that is so different, but that's just because I don't have the time to hunt up all the quotations from the linemen which directly speak to this New Approach. But it is a New Approach. New for Kromer too....he's just in a situation where he could make advances on what he was already doing before as a top OL coach.

Again the players are very, very, very specific about this. When I have some time I WILL gather all the quotes and it will be that much clearer when I do.

I might get beat up for this but I thought the GSOT line was a bit overrated.
