He's been a good-not-great TE for them for 8 years. Helped them reach two Super Bowls and win one. Hopefully he returns healthy in early November. Deserves some respect as a player. He's 9th all-time in receptions by a Ram- most by a TE. Should pass Woods for 8th this season. He has the top 3 receiving seasons by a Rams' TE (2022, 2021, 2019). And he's 14th in career receiving yards and 15thby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Darius Robinson, Adisa Isaac and Chris Braswell. I like all 3 but Isaac quite a bit.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
With Williams, White, Curl, Lake and Yeast. Now the questions are who else can they add at CB in the Draft and can they get Tomlinson able to take on a bigger, more consistent role. Depth of Durant, Kendrick (though not sure he makes it through final cuts) and Taylor.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
The 'pop' in his hands and strength, hands usage, etc. are good. High motor. A long way to go but I see him developing this year into a solid rotational piece. Like a Morgan Fox.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
My hope is that they maneuver on draft weekend to (a) add a 5th pick in the top 99 and (b) to turn those 5 selections in the 6th and 7th rounds into 3. Not sure how- package a couple to trade up into the 5th? Trade one for a veteran who's been displaced earlier in the Draft? But this current roster doesn't need seven day 3 selections and this Draft is apparently more shallow so not sure what willby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah I like Desjuan Johnson a lot and think he will be a solid contributor in his 2nd year. Good strength, hands, balance. But he certainly does not preclude them from taking additional DL in the top 3 rounds. I think I'm in the minority around here in that, while I'd love one of the top 3 Edge guys at 19, I'd be really happy with Murphy or Newton (ideally after a small trade back).by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I can't see the Rams even considering him unless he slipped- and I mean into the mid-40s (a trade up from 52?). Lots of experience and things to like about him (accuracy). But also true what was in that article about his "optimal conditions" (low pressure rate, open receivers, etc.). Like any of these QBs he needs work and development. Far from NFL (starter) ready.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
On offense it's really depth across the board for 2024 that they still need. A RB3, WR4/5 maybe, more OL depth, etc. The starting offense, other than perhaps a competition between Parkinson and Davis Allen at TE, is basically set. And on defense the secondary is mostly set for 2024 as well. Though there is certainly always opportunity to add more CB help and they should given questions aboutby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
The 61 players will become 85 (picks plus UDFAs) after Draft weekend. I think they are in good shape given the holes they need to fill are dwindling. The White signing in no way precludes them from taking a CB in the top 3 rounds. In fact I hope they do. UDFA will have a harder time making this roster than in 2023. 7th round picks as well for that matter. As far as cap space, guys like Hoechtby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Excellent player. One year deal. By the time camp begins he will be 9.5 months post injury.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
If they move back I'd prefer not to go that far. Ideally just 3-4 spots. But of course depends on how it shakes out I suppose. I like Fiske and Kinchens as well. The Stanford or Arkansas kickers would make great sense in the 7th.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Unfathomable given the Rams defenses of that time. Was an NFL record for the most playoff rushing yards allowed until the Bills put up 341 on Miami in 1995.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
When the Rams lost Super Bowl XIV I was in 3rd grade. I'd only been following the Rams for two full seasons by then but was a huge fan of the team and a huge fan of him- as was everyone in my mostly Italian family. My mother used to call him "a nice Italian boy." I was sad for them losing, crushed when he left the NFL for the CFL in 1981 and thrilled when he returned a year later. I read her most recent Athletic article last night and am looking forward to listening to the podcast later today. One thought I have had about the roster build this year is that, with the heavy (literal and figurative) investments in the OL I think the running game is mean not just to protect Stafford but to play a bit of "keep away" from opposing offenses. They might be trying toby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Can save $7M in cap space in 2026 if they decide to move on then.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I still lean much more toward Edge and CB as well. Latu at 19 would be great. So would Mitchell if he somehow slips that far. But if the top 3 edge guys and top 2 corners are off the board I'm all for moving back 3-5 spots and targeting Newton. It's less that I'd consider him a consolation prize and more that if they went DT there still need to be armed with 4 other pics in the top 3 rounds to adby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Good point. And also, without question, the Rams need Turner and Young to go to the next level in 2024 to help make up for Donald's absence. With them plus Jones at ILB they have a very good foundation. Hoecht is a nice depth piece but cannot be a full time player. Edge on that right side remains a need. But Donald of course creates a void no matter what. I even think Jonah Williams is a losby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Thought he was much more of a sure thing than Robinson, though maybe less of a perceived ceiling at the time. The guy has had a really good career in ATL and not slowing down yet.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think if Anchrum hadn't gone down two snaps into his first start in 2022 he would have developed into something more. Maybe he still does in SEA. Good guy by all accounts.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Torn ACL in November 2021 that had him miss most of 2022 because he decided to recover for longer (full year). Tore Achilles 4 weeks into 2023.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Most years you can count the number of legit quality backup QBs on one hand. JG will be among them. He had a terrible year with the Raiders but his previous 4 (2019-2022) he had a 100.2 QR rating and better than 2:1 TD to INT ratio in 47 starts in a very similar system. The signing was a no-brainer.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
It's unlikely but if by some chance Latu and Mitchell were both there at 19 what would you do?by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Wanted to trade back to add another top 100 pick but didn't find any deals worth taking. So... other than not getting a CB until late I'd be pleased with this. 1/19- DT Byron Murphy, Texas 2/52- Adisa Isaac EDGE Penn State 3/83- Ricky Pearsall WR Florida 3/99- Cade Stover TE Ohio State 5/154- MarShawn Lloyd RB USC 5/155- Matt Goncalves OT Pittsburgh 6/196- Mohamed Kamara EDGE Colorby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
They are also the top 4 defensive players in Rams history in Career Approximate Value, via Pro Football Reference. And it's not particularly close.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Newton after a trade back? Could be a direction they want to go more so they not only try and find a replacement for Donald but add a 5th pick in the top 99.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think it's been Edge, CB, or possibly OT all along. Now of course you add DT as an option. Though it's probably only Murphy there as an option? Maybe Newton from Illinois if they traded back (which now could be more likely to try and add a 5th selection in the top 99.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Than 2 days ago. Focus on drafting and enhancing the Edge and CB spots while continuing to develop guys like Young and Turner and handing the defensive leadership reigns to Jones (who should be extended this summer). The safety from WAS today was a nice add. Obviously DT becomes a position to address and now has to be on the table at 19 or 52. But again I do think their general path ahead is theby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
But again, I think Snead and McVay knew about this or at minimum had a good idea it was coming earlier than we think. Sure, would be easier maybe if he had announced it in mid February. But it is also 3 days into FA and 6 weeks before the Draft. He is not by any means leaving the Rams high and dry. I was sure 2024 would be his last year. I knew he would never be a guy that limped to the finisby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
If there is any talk of he is spoiled or selfish or anything else Im sorry but I think it is totally and completely off base. This is a guy that gave literally everything he had to the Rams franchise for 10 years and literally brought them a Super Bowl win along the way. He goes down as without question one of the top 2 or 3 players in the franchises 80 something year history. Maybe the best.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
