Good point. And also, without question, the Rams need Turner and Young to go to the next level in 2024 to help make up for Donald's absence. With them plus Jones at ILB they have a very good foundation. Hoecht is a nice depth piece but cannot be a full time player. Edge on that right side remains a need.
But Donald of course creates a void no matter what. I even think Jonah Williams is a loss on the interior DL. Can Bobby Brown elevate further in what is a contract year for him? A guy I am interested to see develop is Desjuan Johnson. Only played significant snaps (20+) in two games but I think he could develop into a solid contributor. He's really strong with 'heavy hands' and with a committed offseason and technique improvement could be an interesting piece for them.
But overall the biggest change in their approach has to be that DT is now on the table in the first round whereas I don't think it was before. With Donald having informed them a while ago of his retirement I'm sure they got a jump start on scouting interior DL. A trade back 3-4 spots and getting Newton from Illinois (while adding another top 90 pick) could be one of their best scenarios. A guy like Kris Jenkins or Michael Hall later perhaps? But I do think they have to backfill at DT in the top 3 rounds.
