Not trying to pile on but I noticed a lot of wobbly passes from him and his fumbling make me think his hand size may actually be an issue.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't recall any claims of pro-capable but maybe they were out there. I was under the very distinct impression that Goff was the target and choice for the Rams at QB because he was the most pro-ready and could come in and give the Rams a better option relatively quickly. Essentially right away. That was the whole point of moving up. Goff had a big upside but was the most pro ready. Wentz aby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
that's the sad part. As much as I'm not a fan or his type of approach, I'd have been MUCH happier had they not (apparently) forced the issue. They did it with Tavon and now with Goff. They really seem out of their depth when it comes to evaluating those situations and I'd much rather they just continue to do what they do best and use all of their resources to do it. If they want to win withby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't think anyone hopes any differently but there's only so many times one can fall for the idea that they're secretly holding something back that is going to produce far different results. The run-based, dink and dunk offense seems to be what they're going to use again this year.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
The same thing may be said of Goff in the long run. I don't envy the situation he's been drafted into. While not as bad as going to an expansion team, playing for Fisher isn't something I'd wish on a young QB.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I can deal with having different opinions about which QB to take but Goff wasn't just a choice, he was a huge cost. If the Rams were just sitting at #1 and had to choose, fine, go with who you like. But this is so much more than that and it really brings into question just how qualified this regime is(or isn't).by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Better pass protection would definitely help and the personnel seems better than it has in a while. Maybe that will be enough but I have my doubts. The predictability of the Fisher offense is also a big problem and has put the whole offense in bad positions more than a lack of talent has. As far as throwing the ball deep, the percentage of times that the Rams do it isn't really the issue andby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
and it's a bit misleading since Gurley played in 12 games and averaged less than 4.0 YPC in 6 of them.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I think those "flashes" seem brighter than they actually are because they're being surrounded by such poor play.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
It's the 59.9% completion, 2.9% TD and 6.2 YPA that make the low INT% less impressive. Or, not impressive at all, really.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Perhaps, but for me, it's just hard to understand why guys like Prescott, Mariota, Winston, Bortles, etc. can look so much more ready to take the reigns than Goff. Who supposedly was more pro ready than any of this year's guys. For the cost and the now apparent wait, I'd have much rather taken Lynch.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Are the Rams really any different...or even as good as the 2014 Browns? Brian Hoyer=Case Keenum, Johnny Manziel=Jared Goff, Sean Mannion=Connor Shaw. That's what are QB situation looks like to anyone who's not a Rams fan.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Hasn't Goff had at least 1 fumble and 1 interception in each game? He doesn't seem to be adjusting or progressing. And this has come in a dink and dunk offense, not challenging the defense downfield. I mean, when Peyton was throwing picks early on, it was because he was learning how to beat defenses in all facets of the passing game. Goff is just trying to take a snap and throw screen passesby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
And can't beat out Keenum. Remember not so long ago when the Rams fleeced the Redskins? I guess Fisher still feels like he owes the Titans.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree, I was just saying he'd be a decent fill-in for the Vikings and considering his age, a guy that might be attainable for a reasonable price. I really don't know what Hue and the Browns are thinking and it's very late in the game to be re-shuffling your depth chart in general. But, considering the new coaching staff inherited McCown, along with everything else, I'd say they would be openby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Why has his value quadrupled since he was a Texan? He only played in 6 games for the Rams and in 5 of those, he wasn't asked to really do anything. In the one game where they needed him to be a real starter, he looked like the backup that he is.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
So, a guy who was barely worth a 7th for the Rams to acquire is now worth nothing less than a 2nd?by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Keenum hasn't played enough to say that he's durable. He also hasn't really proved he can start and win games in this league. With the running game and defense that the Vikings have, it should make it easier on whoever is playing QB and I'd take Sanchez over Keenum and probably Geno if he becomes available. Someone just mentioned McCown and there are probably other options like Glennon who areby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I haven't followed the Browns offseason real closely but McCown is what, two coaches removed from who hired him? Hue isn't tied to him and doesn't even like him is my impression. Not sure if he was going to eventually get cut but they brought in RGIII and drafted Kessler so McCown probably is available for trade and might be on the open market. I'm not overly impressed with Bridgewater inby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
...so, that situation doesn't really play into my feelings for this situation. While I think the Rams spent WAY too much to get Goff, I'm more concerned about who's coaching him and the system that he's in than I am in Goff himself. The start to his career has been botched already IMO.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
The Vikings don't have to overpay for a QB because there will be plenty of comparable QB's cut soon. Now, if they can work out a reasonable deal to get a QB sooner, then I think they'll do it. Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith...there will be some names out there that won't be great, but may not be such a drop off from what Teddy Two-Gloves was providing.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Don't we need to compare apples to apples though? What have 6-10, 7-9, 8-8 teams done when they started a rookie? The first example that comes to mind is the Seahawks.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRockRam We have all watched what happens to rookie QBs with great promise when they are forced to start when they aren't ready. It is truly tragic. Who can deny the physical ability of David Carr or Couch or Akili Smith and others who were thrown into the deep end and expected to learn on the job? And now with the new CBA that limits contact between team and player how do you quickly developby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
or even assume that Fisher's assistants are telling him what to do? About anything? There's a lot of things that I would consider but that's not one of them.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm not saying to bring in Randel but I don't think any receiver on the Rams has earned not being replaced.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
You win, ZN. The Rams throw deep just as often or more than all the other teams in the league. Case Keenum = Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and all the rest. His arm is just as adequate in deep passing as all the others too. Why would anyone have ever thought he had a weak arm? It's all just made up and personal because we all hate Keenum.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
You don't really believe that, do you? 1/1 is the same as 100/100?by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
But is being better than a 2nd year guy who's NEVER given a chance and an OVERRATED and not ready rookie really saying much? Even last night, the Rams may drive the ball between the 20's but they don't even take shots in the end zone when they're in the red zone. Keenum is just a warm body, there to hand the ball off and never take a chance. Because there is a difference between not making mby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I think you're not looking at the big picture of that Vikings 11-5 record. The Packers were on a down year and the Bears and Lions weren't really any good. My point being, I don't think it can just be said that a team can win a division and post 11 wins with QB play that is a non-factor, a good running game and good defense.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
It doesn't matter if Keenum throws it deep 5% of the time when he's only attempting 20 passes per game. It equates to him attempting those deep passes just once per game and that isn't going to influence the defense.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
