Lovely Linda. She could sing anything, any style, with anybody, and didn't have to try to be sexy. I was half-asleep over a half-cold cup of afternoon coffee, and now I'm wide awake, feeling much better. Thanks, bro! A couple of days ago I was re-listening to her live duet with Hoyt Axton's Like a Lion in the Winter. Too bad her illness caused her to fade early. All I know is from a highlight reel: Sets blocks well, good burst, patient but knows when to accelerate, decent-enough stiff arm (saw only once) good balance, knows instinctively how to absorb and run off of contact, OK receiver, fast enough for college ball but may not run away from NFL LB's and DB's who are as fast as he is; and (important to me) can break tackles, carry defenders forward. Best taunt? I remember Alex Karras yelling at an opponent, I forget who, "When this season's over I'm gonna come to and kill you!" That would be considered not very nice in today's NFL.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
TO was a great football player. I liked his Sharpie-in-the-sock autographerd football after a TD incident, and antics with the cheerleaders and their pom-pons. When he was doing those things, he was having fun. He could get into other player's heads - taunt them into making mistakes. Unfotunately his abilities were undermined by the emotional tortures of his childhood, which surfaced in negatby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I hope Stadffdord gets protection. That's more a concern than his age. I think we all agree - however it's done, get the O line fixed. From there, my hope is that Kyren Williams can step up big-time and become the #1 running back. His vision for the field and potential for breaking a long one is better than Akers, and he brings far more in pass protection than Akers. I checked out onby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I just looked at the lineup, based on current players. They guys we have as potential new starters (except in Wagner and Ramsey's spots) look good enough. I loved Gaines but there may not be much of a falloff there; could this be Bobby Brown's year? The interior LB positions well be up to game speed with a much-improved Jones after a year of tutelege alongside Bobby Wagner and Rozeboom - if hby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
If Florio is for it, I'm against it. If the NBA (already its own decadent morass) allows it, I'm distancing myself from going along just to go along. The NFL's image is slipping far enough already. I won't go into that. You all know what I mean. Outmoded? Simply mirrors society? Pertinent question in response: Are we an ascending or declining culture? If decaying, why mirror and thereby aby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Agreed - Chancellor was good where he was. Lacked range to play 2-deep. You named some of my all-time favorite safeties in Reed, Cromwell. Cromwell probably could have played half the positions on the field, much less anywhere in any D backfield. Amazing athlete.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm with you on this one. Van's upside has been very close to what he brought in as a rookie, given his pedigree. Still doesn't go after the ball aggressively enough to suit me, althoiugh he has secure hands when he's open. Route running was good coming in, has improved with experience. My bottom line, trade him. Either for a pick on draft day, or if there's a trade partner out there, straby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
A gassed D that is on the field too long tends to fade toward the end. We saw that fairly often last season. We also saw injuries in the secondary leave the D vulnerable to the pass, especially when the pass rush is weak to begin with, and gets weaker as the game ppogresses. That said, I winced for the D when they'd manage a turnover or force a punt after just a few plays, and then had toby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
You said a mouthful, bro. I wonder what Morris would do, and how he'd influence the draft, if given free rein to run his own D? And what would a Morris D scheme look like? I have no idea - and don't know what, given present personnel, would work better than what we have. It needs a couple of fixes, but Is there a quicker route to something that will work better?by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
My biggest fear (no joke!) is that McVay goes for another speedy little wideout early in the draft. Tavon, Tutu, and.... ? May the curse be broken. We have plenty of wideout speed with what we have, (especially with Harris being played out of position) and plenty big-enough targets, IF Stafford has time to throw and can spread the ball around. Spreading the ball around is a series of stratby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
The Phillips D was desgned to throttle the pass once the O built a quick lead. It was supposed to be strong on the outside, albeit vulnerable to the run up the middle - and got gashed by running teams, especially in tight games. Without a quick strike offense it was doomed. Rapp was drafted to a cheering crowd here on the board. When he became a square peg in a round hole, his accolades fell oby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Hyperfocus and trying to cover all the bases at once are ADHD traits. ADD'er tend to see the whole forest - and the bark on each tree, and where the shafts of sunlight showe through, all at once. Neurotrypical people have to focus on one part at a time with only a general view of the whole system. I know. Prioritize OL and defense. Skill positions, I like your phrase "play with the toys you have." That said, I'd like to see a mid-late round or trade running back who could be a thumper. Akers came back OK but he ain't it in short yardage. I don't give a rat's rear end about his "philosophy." Last year's Notre DAme rookie is far better in pass protection and plays with heart -by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Hard to churn the coaching staff every year and come up with consistncy. I'd put that lack of consistency on the churn - not the coaches themselves for the most part. That said, whose idea was it to convert a beanpole speedster with outsdanding hands into a tight end? In sixty years of serious NFL football watching I haven't saeen any tight end at nearly six-and-a-half feet tall weighing underby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
In free agency or post-trade, you gotta perform on the field if you're gonna stick. Do drafting and coaching (don't ignore position coaches) have something to do with it? Yes. Obviously, yes. But if you don't bring the coachable talent with you into the draft, you don't stick - regardless the coaching afterward. Drafting matters. Yes, ownership/upper management like to sell tickerts, generate revenue. And yes, they know the way to do that is put a good product on the field. They hire and delegate to a multilevel organizational network to do that. Ancillary to that primary set of goals is to manage the media, whose product in turn generates sales. See how that works? They hire teams of experts to do that. And no,by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Covid bit everything and everybody in the butt. One year out, I'm still recovering - I think - although my day-to-day seems to be flatlined. Nasty stuff. Thanks for your insights, Classic. I haven't seen enough snaps from either to judge that closely. I still wonder: If Harris displays the lost in space tendencies you note, why in the name of the amythest handle of the great horned spoon is he being coached up as a tight end? Wouldn't some intense film study and prtactice reps as a WR help him overcome this shortcoming? I dunno, and must trustby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com

^This^ In the few games I saw last year I noticed a lot of Rams so-called "bad picks" doing right well on other teams. We win a Super Bowl, ol' Trader Les is a genius. We draft the OL help we need in the middle rounds a couple of years prior, and Snead is a genius drafter who can find talent after the first day. So many oin this board were looking for an OL collapse then - we saby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
-Van came in at close to his ceiling, with a good fotball pedigree and well-trained. Harris (as I remarked in another post) seems to have been misused by the Rams. Why make a TE out of a tall skinny wideout with 4:39 speed? Must ALL fast wideouts be little guys? What about Julio Jones (same 40 time, weight, but 2" shorter than Harris)? Not saying Harris could be another Jones, but we simby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
What I never understood about Harris is why the Rams took a tall skinny (only 219 lbs at 6'5"?) WR and tried to make a tight end out of him. I just watched some college highlights. Not much to see, there, but evidence he can outrun most defensive backs, outreach them and isn't afraid to go get the contested ball when covered or being grabbed (things Van doesn't or can't do) and has a deceptiby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Rats! I watched some isolateds of the chemistry Gaines and AD had with each other - one in which Gaines pushed AD into position to make a play. You can't buy synergy. The Ganes "miked up" video is priceless - gives insight into what Gaines brought to his teammates. I liked Gaines. Darkness retreat... Did he channel Darth Vader? Seriously, I've been worried about Aaron since he hooked up with this witchy creature self-named Blu, who fed him psychedelics that led to his hippy-era behavior. His play fell off. In intewrviews and quotes he now comes off more like a spaced-out wierdo than a man who is alert, mature, and self-assured. Then a darkness retreat to do what - obby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
