This is a poor man's 1999 revitalization, but there are many similar components. 1) Great offensive coaching added 2) Free Agent Offensive Lineman Added 3) Key WRs added I don't see 500 points and a superbowl, but I see a good offense and promise for even more improvement in the future.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
What a difference that makes. There is no concern on making adjustments in the game, having a volume of plays, formations, different OL responsibilities, etc. It opens up everything when you don't have 1 hand tied behind your back 1) Much better coaching 2) Whitworth over Robinson 3) Addition of Kupp and Watkins Takes the offense from dead last to in the top 1/2. That is my predictioby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
and pushing Woods to the sidelines some. Watkins, Kupp, Woods, Austin That is a solid group on 3rd down 4 WR set.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
he appears to be way better than anything we have seen in a decade in just 2 preseason games. that is how it appears. It is visible that he has a feel for the game, is well trained, and has all the fundamentals down to a tee.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
He is bigger for one size 5'11 vs 6'2 Weight 188 - 194by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I feel Gurley showed some signs a improvement. But to your point, has yet show explosiveness. What he did do that we didn't see last year that we saw last night was move the pile and his ability to pick up the key short yardage. I hope Cupp is better than Amendola. I hope he is a bigger sized Wes Welker. While Amendola is a great story and a great overachiever, starting in the NFL forby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think he was talking about differences actually and how the environment the QB plays in can make a big difference Rodgers had time to learn and develop on a good team and he came into a good offense Goff was a rookie and was thrown into the worst offensive coaching scheme in NFL history that had no prepared offensive players. He had no options to throw to because they didn't actually prby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Offensive Coaching staff has players looking much better. It is amazing the difference it appears to be making. the QBs now have options and the opposing defense no longer knows what is happening before the snap based on the formation. Lots of great space management, misdirection. The route running is better. The quarterback reads are better. There are multiple options on plays. Gurleyby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
He really looks good and has great instincts, intangibles. He is obviously a very skilled, fundamental player and knows what he is doing. This may be the first hit with a draft pick since Holt. Love for him to be a Wes Welker caliber / type WR, and to boot with MORE SIZE.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Given he didn't play much. But I liked the way he plays. Loved that he was alert and jumped on the fumble. Alert. I like that he seems to know what he is doing on the field and executes cleanly. Hard to tell from a handful of plays. Can't wait to see more.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
And without a 1st round pick. 1) offensive coaching problem. Biggest issue solved 2) Robinson at left tackle. Solved team is no longer hostage 3) no playmaker. Added elite wr in Watkins. One of leagues best when healthy.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Really - gold bar These guys overrate the draft picks so much as do many. In this list Watkins is a better player than ever single one. 24 out of 24 times, Watkins would be preferred over the players listed. Plus, Watkins is in a playmaking position that can change an entire appearance of a team (The flow of the game, how the defense can defend you, etc) There are only 2 close (Jby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
5) Pass: good oline protection, completion to Kupp While it was nothing special, the play was set up with a similar look and a run previously in that formation. The play action rollout was executed nicely and created easy offense. Something we rarely saw before.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
heading in the right direction, not racing, but heading. it felt completely different on offense and you really never knew what was coming as opposed to past few years where the predictability was common place. And that is in a preseason game when the teams are holding back some.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
backup runningback, davis, needs to hold onto the ball but he showed some burst. But holding penalty and 2 fumbles looks bad. I hope he gets that worked out as when he had the ball, you got the feeling he could make people miss and explode and make a big play at any time. Young WRs and TE made a play or two. Liked Cupp and Everett from the little I saw of them. right side of offensivby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
while it wasn't flashing, there was variety and plays built on other plays setting things up. Nothing to write home about yet, but just having different plays and variety gave them a chance.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
You never know where he comes from when he goes strong on these debates. He once stated Gibson and amendola were at the same level as duper and Claytonby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Revis tries to rattle him early and Watkins starts slow but Watkins keeps attacking. He Is so competitive and physical. He also showed great leadership in this game and loved listening to how he talked to his teammates. As the game wore on the worm turned and Watkins started making play after play. He started to dismantle the best corner in the NFL. Here is a 2nd link, but not as gby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff is still a question mark and while it is a guarantee that he will be better with better coaching and better players around him, will he be good enough to win games. I think these moves, the veteran left tackle and the #1 WR, at least gives him a chance to develop where he had none before. If he doesn't show improvement during the season, reevaluate next year on moving onto a new QB.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes - I chopped it off the year before he was drafted. But yes, he was. Of course, I don't want to wait 22 more years for another Issac Bruce.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
There was an excellent quote by a poster in a previous thread. The Rams could spend 2nd round pick after 2nd round pick after 2nd round pick and never find a WR as good as Sammy Watkins I did a google search on Rams 2nd round picks so lets Take a look at the 2nd round picks of the Rams for the past 15 years. Your point on compensation is a great one! Faulk was a different player with the Colts. Was considered an attitude problem and didn't run tough at the goal line, was hurt a bunch, and on and on. I guess the one difference is Faulk did have that one year with Manning that was excellent, but he had 3 seasons in a row similar to Watkins prior to that season.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Saw in an earlier post that somebody compared Watkins trade to the Faulk trade. At first that sounds like a stretch as Faulk is a Hall of Famer and Watkins really hasn't done much of anything other than showing the flashes of greatness, but take a look at some of Faulks early years: 1) 1996 - 587 yards and a 3.0 Yard Per Carry in 13 games Guess what. He wasn't the healthy player and hisby Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
He changes everything with the ability to put up a 100 yard game every week and that one big play sometimes changes the entire momentum of a game and allows you to play free and easy, allows the defense to attack versus being attacked and on and on.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
Watch him dominate Revis the best in the business. I think he had like 150 yards that game to knock the Jets out of playoffs. He shows great leadership in the video. 1) Eye ball test - NFL highlights tend to always break away and show Sammy Watkins breaking free and making big plays 2) Season before last - some say 1047 and 9td pretty good but lots of WRs get 1000 yards. If he plays like he did last year, he should be replaced next year. He doesn't have to be the best, but he needs to win and move the offense.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
In today's NFL you need to make plays. There have been multiple moves this off season, but this Watkins one is the best by far. Even if he never gets healthy, the attitude and atmosphere it creates to acquire a top playmaker of Watkins creates energy and excitement which equals a win. The Rams go from the worst offense in the NFL from last season to an above average offense with this move.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
At last, the most hope I have had for the Rams in more than a decade. This changes everything. Best Deal since A. Williams.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
I get back to this. averages 1 momentum changing play a season 1) 0 Touchdowns in 2 seasons 2) 3 plays of 20 or more yards over 2 seasons I want my #2 back to have some pop. There is an intangible that is missed when a defense doesn't have to account for a skilled offensive player because he is no threat to make a play. That allows the opposing defense to attack however they want.by Rams_81 - RamsFootballFans.com
