I feel Gurley showed some signs a improvement. But to your point, has yet show explosiveness. What he did do that we didn't see last year that we saw last night was move the pile and his ability to pick up the key short yardage.
I hope Cupp is better than Amendola. I hope he is a bigger sized Wes Welker.
While Amendola is a great story and a great overachiever, starting in the NFL for a superbowl team, when you wouldn't think he be in the NFL, I feel he is another that has been overrated through the years, because his story is a good one. To put in it prospective:

I don't believe he has ever been over 700 yards in a season
Compare to Wes Welker who went over 1000 yards 5 times in his career
