in the NC mountains,Asheville, and they had begun their Holiday season lights. Just the inside trees and the fireplace mantels...But a place with over 200 rooms and fireplaces in pretty much each room I can see the early works. The inside tour only incorporates like maybe 30 rooms out of the 200+ rooms. They start their Holiday Light exhibit Nov. 1st.....Also had a Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit on the grounds, we had so much on our plate we actually forgot about it...Damn........
Beautiful grounds, and the gardens still had some fall colors, the trees were in full color, maybe a bit subdued as the season is going towards the leaves falling. great foods as well, outside band playing into the dark at Antler Hill that you could hear a bit as we ate outside our chosen restaurant (I had Rabbit and Mary had Salmon). Walked over to the Winery after that, (missed out on the wine tasting), but bought a couple bottles and some apple butter......
If you ever are in the area (western Mountains, Asheville) check it out, it's worth the admission.....On the way back we took the Blue Ridge Parkways for a bit and went to Linville Falls....great trailways there if you are into hiking.... Got there just in time before they shut the water off for lunch time...LOL.....
