Not always a lot to look at, either, but it is what it is..
I think the remotest are I have ever been - at least the area I FELT was the most away from civilization, was in Rangiroa, which is par tof French Polynesia.. Rangiro is an ancient volcano that sank into the ocean - its a circular island and the island part is maybe 100 yards wide, but the circumference of the circle is SO large, you cannot even see the other side.. Out the outside edge on Rangiroa, facing the open ocean, not the enclosed lagoon, felt like being on the moon.. it felt SO remote, it was just crazy..
Here's a pic that explains it better.. the circle goes a full 360 degrees, but you can't see the other side.. the other side would be even more remote as they have a small resort that doesn't even have electricity, but we didn't go there.. its supposedly an hour boat ride.. that's one big ass volcano..
I've been to other areas that are incredibly remote: Half Moon Caye in Belize is hours from civilization and one of my all-time favorite dives sites.. its about a 6 hour boat ride from the island we stay in Belize..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
