I've seen them in concert several times and on stage they're exactly how you'd expect them to be from that photo.
You know... it occurs to me.... not sure there is a genre of "Cowboy Music"? Maybe so but I don't recall it if so. And it's quite different than C&W.
I was on an elk hunt some years back, in Idaho. We rode into the Bitterroot Mtn's on horses... two full days on horseback. Me, my cousin, and a guide.
The journey began in Montana.... ended deep into the Bitterroots. The day we were to ride back out, (I'm coming to the music part of this), my cousin bagged a deer and it took us most of the day to field dress it then drag it back to our spike camp and pack it up on our pack mule. The result being... we didn't begin riding out until evening... meaning we rode all night.
Horses have no problem seeing at night, (as you know), so we let go of the reins, kicked back, and rode... not infrequently getting smacked in the face by a tree limb we couldn't see coming. So anyway -
Our guide knew every Cowboy Diddy ever written.
All night he serenaded us and I didn't recognize one single song he sang.
To this day my cousin and I talk about that trip.. one of the best of our lives.... Starry Idaho and Montana skies and our own personal vocalist entertaining us.
