Back in the day, they HAD to have made a KILLING on concessions with the volume sold. Theaters will not survive on Top Guns and the occasional big draws alone. There is no way, IMO. My Wife and I chatted about all this the other day. I say..... Bring back the basics and cut out the fluff. I'd lose the arcade games that are never used in the Lobby. Our AMC Theater has a BAR??? Been there for 5-6 years. Maybe 4 times have I seen it used. Theaters should offer a Popcorn and drink for $5. Nachos for $3 and candy for $2. NINE dollars for a regular popcorn is a flat out rip off. Popcorn that often has been sitting for an hour or more. We paid $31.99 for 2 Reg Cokes and 2 Reg Popcorns. That's enough to buy 3-4 twelve packs of Coca Cola and two 4 packs of Microwave popcorn. People are seeing that and staying away. I also think Theaters have another issue they have ZERO control over........HOLLYWOOD. Seems there are fewer and fewer fresh ideas for movies with QUALITY story lines. TOOOO many rehashed things. Where does Fast N Furious stand now?? #15??
