Time for me to admit something...

but before I do... your impression of EJ may be spot on... I wouldn't know. I do not idolize ANY musician, actor, ANYone of them "personally". I don't know them.. my inclination is to think they are ALL @#$%& because power corrupts absolutely.

Now of course I realize some are very decent folk...but I have no way of knowing that. Which DOES NOT mean I frown on them all... no chance! I just don't know.. I like their music.... that's about as far as it goes with me. So I can say Dave Weckl (drummer), or Warren Hill, (saxophonist), are hero's of mine but that means their MUSIC... I have no idea what they are like as people... could be I'd hate them, and they me.

Ok, I HAVE to hear more about the "Italian Restaurant"... there is a great story in that.

Oh, by the way.. the 'wild outfits'... I think that was in place from day one. He was NOT famous when I saw him in '72 and he was dressed like it was Halloween. Pilgrim shoes, belt, hat... some shirt I can't even explain.

I think you are dead on in saying he related to his fans. Yes, I got that impression every time I saw him. Allow me to bring up another that did that... and I can almost guarantee you don't like AT ALL... John Denver. Although.. reading a bit about his life I do wonder if that was just an 'act'. But in concert no... he pulled it off... for real, phony? I don't know... but I don't care.. it worked at the time.
