But, remember, I worked in a record store for 7 years, so you gotta dig deep to find someone I'm not familiar with.. But, I knew who they were before I worked in the record store..
Yeah, Nigel Olsson was the main drummer.. the percussionist dude has been with him since day one.. EJ said he and that guy toured the world in the 70's - just the two of them, but I can't remember his name.. I just looked it up.. his name is Ray Cooper..
I've seen vid of EJ back in the 70's and, yeah, he was on fire.. I didn't particularly care for him back then.. he had great songs, but I thought he was arrogant and kind of a horse's a$$.. I think after he sobered up he chilled out with the attitude and then I started liking him.. Last night we didn't move much, kind f looked like he was laboring a little to walk, but what I liked more than anything, was the way he just seemed to really appreciate everyone for being there and for his band, mostly who were guys who had been with him for decades.. He just seemed like a really good guy.. and I NEVER got that impression from him in the 70's.. Maybe when it was just him on piano with his beard, but certainly not after he started wearing the wild outfits and stuff..
It was cool.. I'm glad I went and got to see a legend before he hangs it up.. By the way, we ate at an AWESOME Italian restaurant before the show, that supposedly Jack Ruby ate at the same night, right before he shot Lee Harvey Oswald..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
