Things began going downhill with the birth of movie rental stores. You could rent a movie for a few dollars and the whole family could watch... more than once if so desired. You could pause it or rewind, even! To me that was the beginning of movie theaters losing some of their audience. The number of movie goers has continued to decline over the years. And although the Blockbuster stores of the world eventually died out, they've been replaced by streaming services so now you don't even have to leave your house to watch the same movies you'd run out to Hollywood Video to rent for 2-3 days. Sorry to say but I too believe movie theaters willl eventually go away. Not saying I want to see that happen but I think it's inevitable.
