Told my Wife that I can see Theaters going BUH BYE within 20 years. Even before Covid......We saw a movie on a Friday night at a TWENTY FOUR screen Theater. There was maybe 2-3 people in the Popcorn line. The Theater parking lot was at MAYBE 50% capacity. Back in 1977....You BETTER get there a full 45 minutes before the movie, if you wanted Popcorn. Lines could be 40-50 people deep. A HUGE complex might have 4-5 screens. You'd see the same movies stick around for 2...3 even 6 months to a YEAR. And EVERY weekend the place was pretty packed. And that's in the days before reclining seats with bells n whistles and tons of leg room.
Theaters BETTER get real! Because they are pricing themselves out of business. Between that and the absolute CRAP coming from Hollywood, I can see Theaters fading fast and eventually be as rare as a drive in.
SURE! You can bring food and save money. But you can save that hassle AND save money by staying home and watching a movie on the huge home TV screen....and not dish out $10 for 50 cents worth of popcorn.
I REALLY feel for families of more than four going to a theater. With ONE trip, you can almost easily spend the $$$ to get a 40+ inch screen TV and sound system of your own. Yep! Theaters better wake the hell up.
