but.........

the person driving your truck probably had their cell phone on them , so the the Air Tag was connecting to their bluetooth , and then that sends a single to your phone

the AirTag still has to be within 30 feet of either your , or even a perfect strangers iPhone to get a single

the same way a Cube tracker works

what I'm saying is , what happens when the Air Tag can't connect to "any" blue tooth signal
