don't AirTags need a blue tooth connection ?

AitTags probably work fine if you want to find your cat in the basement or if it's close to someone elses bluetooth phone

but if my dog takes off across a open corn field , miles away from any bluetooth or wi-fi signal , AirTags wouldn't do me any good

I cave a Cube for my keys , similar to AirTags
