to be modular.. something breaks, you just replace a panel, or a pc board or something.. nobody knows how to go in and diagnose a short and actually fix it.. not only are we now modular with everything, we're also " just throw it out and get a new one" oriented.. that way the manufacturer makes more money.. I guess it used to be that we'd buy stuff based on its reliability, and companies were successful because of the reliability of their products.. somebody figured out there were way more profits if you used cheap parts and had to replace the entire item every couple of years..
