You can't find a place that isn't infiltrated with smart phones and what goes with them.....Back in those days guns were prevalent but used in a more respectful way both of the gun AND those around them......Today's world would not allow such life to exist.....you would be totally canceled for everything the small town would stand for.
Maybe if you found a place where multi media was not around, where the outside world did not exist.....The Twilight Zone may best resemble what you're looking for....or maybe Fantasy Island.......
Closest thing I would come up with would be living in a place like Athens WV.....back in the day it was a small town. Had a Post Office, a cemetery, couple gas stations general store( had wooden floors) and a small Movie House. Name to fame was the Home of Concord College, about 2000 enrollment (emptied out in the summer).....The police squad was a Sheriff and 2 deputies along with the small campus police (5-6).....Had a combo Elementary school Junior High High School as well.....too small for football, just baseball and basketball teams.
It's gone all to hell when the campus went to "university" status.....picked up several thousand kids and there you go.....cancel culture gone wild in a place that had originally like 1200 actual full time residence.....Nothing there to cancel but damn sure did it anyway....
