Here in Jacksonville, stores and restaurants are FINALLY making progress but in recent weeks, I have seen 2-3 news stories questioning it. My overall point is there will always be questions and concern. If anything good can be said about Covid is that it has made people WASH THEIR HANDS.....at least some. I tell ya....In my career, I have gone into so many homes of people who will not bathe. I don't mean sick or elderly who cannot bathe. I mean people who WILL NOT bathe. It has been a real eye opener. SO many people out there just do not care! I have gained a HUGE respect for human immune systems because with the lack of cleaning out there, I'm surprised we are not swarmed with viral bugs and other stuff.
Well Florida completely screwed up the original re-opening and faced a wave of infections. But here's the thing. The entire economic argument is really beside the point.
The point is the protocols--masks, social distancing, washing, not being indoors with large crowds.
If all THAT were well-established then there would be no need for lockdowns. There are countries that beat this without economic lockdowns (like Japan). They just did the masks etc.
So anytime anyone argues in favor of the economy being open it's THE WRONG ARGUMENT.
The REAL issue is to push, reinforce, drive home, make mandatory etc, the masking and other protocols.
IF THE MAJORITY IS NOT MASKING IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE WHETHER BUSINESSES ARE OPEN OR NOT. The thing still spreads.
Common sense says reduce the spread. Common sense says you can do it thorough masking etc.
Unless that's the policy nothing else matters.
