AHA!!!! My problem has been: Failure to rinse my shredded raw potatoes in cold water till the water is clear! The gumminess is coming from the starch in the unrinsed-enough potatoes! I also didn't know you should put a lid on the skillet as they're cooking. I'm going to take this guy's advice and try it this weekend. I just love hash browns with eggs and bacon.
