It does no good. I can lose something from the bedroom to the kitchen... total time less than 30 seconds and no stops along the way. I used to search, thoroughly... but learned that it was a waste of time. Lost item could be in the refrigerator, detergent shelf inside the washing machine, inside the single sock drawer (I have yet to ever find a matching sock), buried in the kitty litter.
