I think all the episodes in a series are shown together. So when the initial episode of season 7 is shown you can binge all the episodes. No waiting like in Lonesome Dove. . A lot cheaper to make a series that way. In fact most all limited series with a predetermined number of episodes are done that way today for the same reason.
As far as "politics" go I don't remember that in Bosch unless you mean the tensions with the police captain, mayor, and detectives including Bosch.
I enjoyed Longmire a lot-at least until my wife decided to leave me for the Australian actor (Robert Taylor-Sheriff). Lucky for me she came to her senses.
I keep writing this: read one of Connelly's books on Bosch and Renee Ballard. Makes watching the series even more interesting.
