There are some (IMO) really good English series on Amazon Prime tv. One I'm becoming more and more into (likely because its about the law) is "Bench". About a group of lawyers not yet "barristers" who practice in "magistrate" courts which are much like our small claims courts except the judges are simply respected citizens that live in the area. No robes, no legal training, just "judges". The attorneys do not wear robes either. it's fast paste with lawyers picking up cases when they report to work and going immediately into court after reviewing the evidence on the run. Years ago before I passed the bar I was certified to represent clients where the offense was small and there would be no jail time-only a fine. I would go from one court to the next with clients lined up in the hallway. At the end of the day I was thrashed. That is exactly what "Bench" is about except the "judges" are just well respected citizens not trained in the law.
