However, these players will still be out in the public domain interacting with folks who might (i.e. older or with pre-existing conditions). Wonder if NFL is seriously considering having teams play in regional "bubbles" to contain potential outbreaks?

Yes NFL athletes themselves are less likely to be vulnerable to this, as you point out...but also as you point out, that's not the issue. The issue is carrying it to others. And on top of it as we know black Americans are a more vulnerable population than most, and it's not unreasonable to assume that black NFL players go home to family, friends,neighbors etc. who themselves spread it to more vulnerable people.
Plus there's all the staff who work on the sidelines and in the locker room who then go home to others etc.
