a Toshiba external hard drive.. I have 287GBs of photos still left to backup.. I have almost a TB of space left on the external - like 945GB of space.. everything esle backup and transferred to the external drive at lightning speed, except these last 287GB of photos.. transfer has slowed down to about 20kb a second.. which will take 6 years to transfer 287GBs of photos..
So, I unplugged the external hard drive and rebooted the Mac 4-5 times..
So, I decided to stupidly try and empty the trash on the computer.. it has 40,200 files in the trash - mostly from errors trying to backup on external.. I cannot empty the trash now.. its stuck in "preparing to empty the trash" mode where its now been for about 15 minutes.. So, I cannot empty the trash - even after a reboot and a safe reboot, and I cannot transfer files faster than 20kb a second.. I have two other external hard drives and tried all 3..
I have no other programs running other than Chrome.. This rocket of a computer can't even empty the trash.. or transfer files faster than 20kb a second, which is slower than 28.8 modem.. This might be the final straw toward ditching Mac.. totally ridiculous...
