on the Mac.. After buying Presonus Studio One (digital studio setup) I was lucky I was able to run it on the Mac, since my current operating system is... are you sitting down, Mac people?
Yosemite.. which is, what? 5 operating systems behind, at least? I'm also concerned jumping this high in OS upgrades that some of my other software may no longer work..
So, I also had to buy what's called an interface, which allows you to plug in regular 1/4" cabled instruments, like guitar, bass and keyboards, into the computer to record.. It also allows you to plu the computer into regular studio monitors, like the Behringer flat response studio monitors I have, but currently cannot hook up to the Mac..'
So, of course, the interface hardware comes with Mac sfotware that makes it all sing and dance.. and I can't install THAT software because my OS is tool old.. So, I gotta update the OS..
So, all day yesterday and so far today, been backing up the 4 million video files and other files I've accumulated since my last backup.. most of this stuff was backed up, but I don't wanna try to figure it out, so I just deleted everything on the external drive and am starting over.. So, about 2.5TBs into the process.. still have a little ways to go, but hope to upgrade OS this afternoon..
But wait! During social distancing my mother in law invited us over for lunch in what usually turns out to be an all day sitting around session, so no telling when I'll get this done..
