Hair metal bands.. there were a LOT of metal bands, but, imo, lots more hair metal bands.. Reason being, metal became popular again in the early 80's and hair metal really took off as a result in the mid-80's.. but the hair metal scene didn't include just the metal heads.. it included pretty much the entire rock population and general public and, before ya knew it, there were so many hair bands you couldn't keep up with them..
Totally understand regarding the name Wrathchild, but both bands already had multiple LP's out and had established the name. albeit in two different countries.. So, neither wanted to give up the name.. Wrathchild was originally the name of an Iron Maiden song that became really popular - and so a lot of bands named Wrathchild started up - heck I was in a band named Wrathchild for a while around '82..
Its so unfortunate that legal mess happened.. they were poised to be super huge.. heck, 3-4 weeks ago I found their Live in London DVD on the shelf at Walmart lol.. I told them that and they freaked out that a DVD from a show in '84 was available on the shelf at Walmart in Texas in 2020.. But, they ARE world-known - they were very popular in many countries.. anyone who was ever REALLY into hair metal or shock rock and knew the scene knows who Wrathchild UK is..
Same story with another group of friends of mine in the 80's named Sweet Savage.. Signed by RCA in '86, but then RCA was sold and the new owners didn't buy the contract.. they held out for the huge deal - and didn't get it.. Enigma Records offered them a contract and Sweet Savage turned it down.. Enigma then offered THAT same contract to Poison, who took it.. I assume you know who Poison is.. That SHOULD have been Sweet Savage, but they blew it.. and then broke up.. Hottest club band in the US, their EP charted number 1 in England.. and they have nothing to show for it now.. I still talk to the singer quite often, Joey C Jones, who still performs in Dallas.. Really sad..
