I looked into this quite thoroughly.... I got into the habit when I flew often, reading accident reports. I'm not going to go into any of that.. what I know, certainly not what I suspect... BUT...

One thing for sure.... the pilot was NOT out of line taking off from John Wayne... conditions were normal. Flights are made in those conditions all the time... then, now, and always will be. After that, quite a long time after... is where the problems begin. - JamesJM
