while growing up in Texas around 3rd grade. My best friend was a fan and so I kinda joined in. At the time, the Rams were always in the playoffs and
the Dodgers were dominant as the winningest team of the decade. For some reason I always hated the Cowboys. I began to follow the Lakers soon after.
I moved to south central California soon after. Watched the Rams, Dodgers and Lakers on TV and of course Vin on the radio which cemented it.
Moved to Northern California for college and kept following those three teams.
I don't think it is uncommon for fans to follow their local teams (baseball/football). For example, everyone here is a Giants/Niners fan. I did live in SF
where there are a lot of transplants and they follow their hometown teams, but still they tend to root same area team (e.g., Pirates/Steelers).
