And later in the series you'll meet Jefferson Davis... and the actor who plays him is even worse, IMHO.
I found the acting an odd mix of 'very good' with 'very bad'.
I should note: i've been critical of this series, very much so, BUT.... I enjoyed it a lot. I did the same with that old Ted Turner produced movie "Gettysburg". "Gettysburg" is one of my favorite movies - - - but at the same time it has, IMHO of course, some of the worst film making, and acting, scenes I've ever seen.
As far as the Abe portrayal I don't think we're likely to ever see better than Daniel Day-Lewis in the movie "Lincoln". His performance was so outstanding that without doubt it's the main reason I grimaced at Hamish Linklater's performance in "Manhunt". I posted about Daniel Day-Lewis's performance some time back, on this board -
The movie "Lincoln" with Daniel Day-Lewis was fantastic throughout... but one scene in particular I believe to be one of, if not THE, greatest scenes in movie history. The scene where Lincoln tells the joke. It is film making, acting, perfection.
