RAMbeau and I were discussing this just last night. I can understand why they do and I can understand why they don't. I'm glad I'm not in their shoes where I'd have to make that same decision because I have no idea what I'd do. It seems kinda sh*tty and selfish to leave your teammates high and dry while you put your hopes and dreams in the NFL draft... but at the same time, if they get hurt ... (and what if it's a serious, catastrophic injury?) can't you just hear their friends, family, and agents screaming and wailing... "why would you risk your future and your NFL career in a bowl game that only matters if you get hurt?" A lot of NFL Pro-Bowlers did the same thing for years, correct? I mean... it got so bad that the NFL doesn't even play a real Pro-Bowl game anymore.
