I know this requires a subjective answer but still - - just how bad are the two lanes? I ask because...
On all my trips around the USA I got off the freeways quite often.... I like getting away from the crowds and the traffic. So most of my 'miles' were two lane roads... here in the USA. Nearly all the two lanes here are good, or at least not much of a factor. But if you're talking huge potholes springing up unexpectedly and often then that's a factor.
This is a 'fantasy' at the moment... not sure I'll ever take the trip but even if I did I doubt I'd get as far east as Ontario.... probably turn south in Manitoba somewhere and then return across the far northern USA which has some country I haven't seen. - JamesJM
