I was an Army man.... but when my son began expressing an interest in the military I never really wanted him to choose the Army. I thought he could get more out of military service elsewhere... USAF, Navy.... maybe. He decided on the Coast Guard.
I've often wondered if I should have made the military a career. First few years are tough, and can be very disappointing as you 'pay your dues'... but if you can stick it out during that breaking in period it's really an amazing career. Hell, just the travel alone I think makes it worth it.
I don't think the 'branch' is really that important. Had I chosen, not been drafted, no doubt I would have chosen the Air Force. - JamesJM
