If you go to "live timing" you can get the entire race times and order of finish. Lots of very good racers crashed that were better racers than Teddy by being overconfident in terrible conditions. You could see them having great runs until suddenly they were in the air and off course. He skied a good line not taking too many chances and ended up much higher than I thought he would given him not feeling all that well. There were 5 UCONN racers and he had the 2d best time on the team. . Out of roughly 140 racers he was in the upper 50% (barely) Plus there were not many freshmen racing. Mostly juniors and seniors and many from the academies.
Yes the order is always difficult to follow unless you have "live timing" going on at the same time. Then its easy peasy because you see the names as they are moving up and then see the times in seconds as the racers come down. The Mammoth commentators are too glib for me and talk a lot about old friends. I've heard them before when Teddy was racing at Mammoth.
So like you with your grandkids-we are proud grandparents.
BTW: Mammoth expects 6-9 ft of snow tonight if you listened to the race commentators. IMO they should be getting out of Dodge now but Teddy wants to come down the mountain with all the racers at once this afternoon. I guess at each nationals they time it and compare the results-its a custom. Also there is an awards dinner planned.
If your grandkids are "boaders" (snow boarding ) they can ski.
