your example of a pitcher throwing heat to one batter is not allowed pursuant to the rule enacted last year. He (or she) must pitch to at least three batters. The only exceptions are 1) Pitches to one batter to end an inning and 2) injuries to pitcher.
Baseball, like other sports, is becoming a game of specialists. Heck, no one ever thought the qb sneak would become a rugby scrum.
The beauty of baseball to me is that there is more "thinking" to it than other sports. Like comparing chess with checkers. Or Bridge with Hearts.
