Every day its opposite ends of the spectrum here.. You were in SA in '86.. I was there in '85 for a while.. 1979 an F4 (No idea how it wasn't an F-5 cuz it was a half mile wide at the base) wiped out my hometown.. I've mentioned it here before.. I just stood on my mom's porch and watched it FLATTEN this town..

We lived 4 houses from the main road that led to both hospitals, which were both about 4 blocks away.. As soon as the wind died down - and one final gust knocked me on my ass - I just stood and watched one pickup truck after another with the beds full of bloody, mangled people drive toward the hospital.. 49 dead, thousands injured.. Was the largest tornado in history, damage-wise, at the time..

I was a tornado spotter for about 14 years.. that was a blast, but it dadgum sure ain't for everyone.. You can get beaten up pretty good by hail, lighting, and torrential rain.. As a spotter, tho, never saw one in the city limits.. saw several off in the distance in the country..
