had properly prepared fish.. I absolutory will eat properly prepared Mahi Mahi (Dorado) and have actually ordered it quite a few times in steakhouses.. Deep fried catfish I will definitely eat.. Half the restaurants in Texas are catfish places.. hush puppies, cole slaw.. the whole 9 yards.. I tried Tilapia once and did NOT like it, but mostly because it wasn't fresh.. I could smell it being delivered to our table - immediate turnoff.. Above being prepared correctly, being FRESH is most important to me.. If I can smell it, AT ALL, I'm not gonna eat it.. its the smell that mostly turns me off.. Fresh, properly prepared fish doesn't have that fishy smell..

So, I have tried shellfish on several occasions.. Shrimp, oysters and stuff.. did not like any of them.. tasted like a wad of slime, to me.. People have ALWAYS told me, "its because its not fixed up properly" and then go on to put all kinds of stuff on the oyster, or shrimp: sauces - you name it.. Then I try it and it STILL tastes like a wad of slime with sauces on it..

In the case of shrimp/oysters people NEVER accept "no" for an answer.. they always try to dress it up thinking I'll like it, then shove it in my face.. So, I just tell everyone I'm allergic to shellfish, which is very common and can be deadly, and that it I eat any I'll need to be transported to the ER immediately.. That usually makes them back off..

But, yeah, Mahi Mahi and deep fried catfish I do eat, and I DO like them.. I did have to try Grouper once - I told the story of being alone in Cozumel and a fisherman invited me to eat with his group, but only if I tried the Grouper he caught that day.. it was good..
