I have a pretty good lens for shooting the moon and stars and stuff and - i think I've posted about this before - but even with a tripod its practically IMPOSSIBLE to find what you're trying to shoot in the viewfinder.. lining it up all zoomed in is extremely difficult - especially if its not in focus.. then you get it in frame and moving the camera 1/64th of an inch and the planet is no longer in frame.. Its very difficult to do, even with a tripod.. I did try zooming out, finding it and zooming in, but, again, moving the camera a hair width and you've lost the subject for another 5 minutes, at least..
Its also difficult focusing - for me, at least, with that lens of a planet or the moon.. if i was zoomed in much further, so that details were more clear, it'd be easier, but as it stands, its not easy..
So, I get ya.. I feel your pain.. but when you DO shoot a cool pic, you'll stay out there trying to shoot another, and another, and another.. Its highly addictive..
I think I mentioned I really enjoy shooting jets at 30K feet.. Looks like a spec in the sky, but you shoot th epic and can tell what airline it is etc...its REALLY cool..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
