As long as we play soft coverage / bend / don't break, I say just get some Average Joe or keep what we have. Then I'd go Top Of The Class across the board on O line. Because the current system puts a helluva lot of pressure on the O to score and not only be leading late in the 4th but by MORE than one TD and 2 point Conversion. Our scheme on D has even tied AD's hands. Hell, we could have another Fearsome Foursome but it doesn't mean Jack if QBs are getting rid of the ball in hardly two seconds to Receivers that have LOTS of room to run underneath and then met by a Secondary that cannot or will not (Observers) tackle worth a crap.
The main one being that we already saw that adding a premium pass rusher works in this system. We played the same system last year and Donald and Miller wreaked havoc.
Also, the current system does not put a lot of pressure on the offense to score. In fact if put offense would've been even average then we would've won at least 3 more games already. Our RedZone defense was top 5 last I checked. So forcing your opponent to lock field goals is not handicapping the offense.
One thing that's happening, as jourdan Rodrigue explained, is that the Rams are having to blitz to get pressure which means a linebacker/safety/slot corner is leaving a void in the defense to try and get to the QB. You fix that with a front four that doesn't need blitzing to win. If you can get pressure with four, you can have 7 in coverage.
Your last part is the key though. We need corners who diagnose quicker.
