No matter what rationalizations are made the basic truth is we need better coordination of this defense. The secondary is not deceptive enough pre-snap, guys are not playing with anticipation in zone, they're not well prepared in man either for route combinations of opponents, and we're not going to find a top edge to bail us out again back there. They need to fix the secondary which means a DC with a strong grasp of what is required.
Staley would meet that objective. He will be available this offseason I think. Fangio obviously would as well. Both are well steeped in the chosen scheme McVay prefers.
It sucks for McVay but to date he has always made that hard call when it had to be made. So I have faith he'll do what must be done.
Dude, have you even watched the Chargers the last couple years? Their defense has been gashed far worse than the Rams. I'm sorry because I'm normally not so combative but ignorance drives me insane
Could Staley be doing "too much" being the HC? I don't follow the Chargers and don't know how "hands on" Staley is with his D. Maybe he's given full power to his DC?
Maybe Staley is a better Coordinator than HC just Morris was?
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
