I understand that the defense is not the issue, and if the offense were halfway competent, the team would likely be making a playoff run, but one other thing I have been thinking about is the defensive money being spent vs. the defensive philosophy. It seems like they have two different philosophies that are opposed to one another. On the one hand, they are paying a ton of money for the pass rushing expertise of Aaron Donald. He is the piece around which this defense is built. On the other hand, they have decided that there philosophy is to play soft and give up the quick easy passes to eliminate explosives. This philosophy is negating Aaron Donald. Everybody knows that when you play the Rams, you can throw quick short passes that are not being challenged. That is also the perfect way to minimize Aaron Donald's impact on the game. Maybe with the personnel they have it is the best way to play defense, but then why bother paying Aaron Donald all that money? Just get a good run stuffing DT and spend your money elsewhere. I might be wrong, but it definitely has me scratching my head wondering if the Rams defensive plans make sense. Interested in other thoughts on this.

Good post brother! beer cheer smiley

Myself and others have also pointed out how this "off coverage" takes AD "out of the game". It also takes out any other rushers we have too. SO do we really need an edge rusher if he isn't going to have time to get to the QB?

We also have discussed how the long drives given up by "off coverage" play right in the "strengths" of certain players/teams.

The "off coverage" also take our offense "out of the game" by decreasing the amount of drives they get and as bad as they are right now, it looks even worse.

It's clear to many here that this "off coverage" has more disadvantages than it does advantages for us. Having said that, it does what it is meant to do and teams aren't scoring a ton against us.

As you say, is it worth paying AD, Ramsey, Wags and any other high priced rusher we might want to add when the D is clearly designed to minimize what our "defensive stars" are being paid BIG bucks to do?

#HelmetHornsMatter

“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.

“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
