And I can’t call out someone’s defensive philosophy or I’m a hater?
speaking of strawmen
If someone over and over and over and over whines about Morris
and in ADDITION to that question someone's manhood and
intelligence and ALSO brings posts from another board
OVER and OVER and 100% of those coming from that board
are 100% negative towards Morris
THEN you are a hater.
If that does not fit, then it does not apply.
Now, as to the substance--I have never said Morris was
"irreplaceable" I've only defended Morris from the
"Fire Morris" narrative which is not going to happen and
was not going to happen after 7-8 games last year.
That concept was so far from reality that it is hard to
even fathom.
I've only explained my understanding of the scheme and
also dispelled the lies about it (that his was his scheme
and not the same scheme as Staley with Morris' twists
on it-among other things oldnotdead posted)
I've never even defended it, I have only defended Morris
and also shown how effective it has been to contract
the results with the lack of reality that firing someone for
doing a good job is.
Have also said I prefer a 4-3 defense (4-2 nickel) in the
style of Fisher/Saleh, etc.
Now I get why you and others are frustrated, I am too
at times. But my sense of it tells me it is not going to
change.
Also, what Jalen Ramsey said today is something that
I have known for a while. That the depth of the CBs
is much up to the CB.
8 yards off?
The general rule is anything from 3 yards in is “hard” or press,
4-7 yards is Cloud, and 8+ is Off.
The reason for hard coverage--is not always to be tight coverage
and the reason for that is that CB could be just rerouting the WR
he;s playing the flat, but they want that WR to be disturbed
often when you see Cover-2 the CB does not always cover
the WR--
The deep 1/4’s CBs don’t need to reroute so they can play
8 yards deep.
That depth is kind of for convenience more than anything.
They need to be close enough to the LOS to be able to reroute
or react to a quick throw, but they need to have enough depth
where they can have eyes on the QB and the #1 WR at
the same time.
So, for whatever reason Ramsey plays (often) a little deeper
and Kendrick does too.
Just 18 months ago I didn’t even know why Fangio used off schemes
I spent a ton of time learning the system and kind of get it.
Also I can see lots of teams use it---and it's being credited with
scoring being down this year because of the uptick of teams
using it, some more than others.
Coaches think it works to prevent points, not necessarily yards
It is great when it can be both, if you have great CBs and
great rush it does better.
Anyway, questioning things is one thing---we all do it. But
the least people can do is try and understand it a little bit
and then not to actually question a man's stones and intelligence
When they understand it then maybe they won't obsess so much.
Seems like "extreme dislike" of people object to the H-word
