I do not mind the game plan and playing off so deep. The defense has been fine like that.
This is the play though that had me scratching my head as the Rams shouldn't have given up this 20+ yard play.
Once that happened, I was thinking Brady was going to score.
On that play, TB sends 4 out on deep patterns.. let's just call it 4 streaks to make it simple even though it isn't. Then leak the RB out for a dump off.
This is what made me throw my remote.
Hill passes his guy off so you've got 3 Rams defenders 10 yards out covering Fournette.
Now you are asking your deep 4 shell guys to cover 4 receivers going deep. WTF?
I don't think Baldy is right picking on Rapp on that. You don't need 3 underneath cover guys to cover the RB.
That was the issue.
Next play, you can see Rams D trying to communicate to each other as if they were uncertain on assignments.
So then they overcompensated and push the underneath coverage routes deeper which then Brady just threw shorter.
That 1 play in my opinion screwed up the defensive assignments in my opinion. It got the underneath to overcompensate due to them undercompensating on the 4 streak play. This then allowed Brady to throw intermediate passes inside the 40 which the Rams didn't gave up easily when they shouldn't have knowing that there is less field to cover.
