Let’s talk about that OL, BRO.

For openers, did you notice that I didn’t include Edwards in my projection? Even if healthy, I consider him the weakest link. And surely gone after this season, anyway. I actually would prefer Shelton at LG and leave Aboushi at RG. I think Aboushi can and will settle in and gel between Allen and Hav. Did you notice his improvement in 2nd half of Panthers game?

But that’s not the point of our discussion. What McVay had to do to protect a crippled OL is one thing, but we are now gonna start getting quality starters back to replace some deep backups. Specifically, Allen immediately and Shelton in 2 weeks. Both huge upgrades over Kolone and Evans, respectively.

So, the problems necessitating drastic adjustments to protect a crippled OL will no longer exist. Thus, no great need to fix a problem that’s already been fixed.

You're trying to sell me on the players you mentioned as being capable of getting the Rams through the NFC.

My thought is that these very same players (sans Allen and Havs) were BACKUPS to players who got SMOKED by real defenses in Weeks 1, 4, and 5 (and I don't believe that Carberry screwed up his talent analysis coming out of training camp).

My issue isn't whether we can field an O-line unit that can hold its own against the likes of Carolina, 'Zona, and Seattle. We can both agree that the Rams are well beyond that type of thinking.

We;re apparently talking past each other, BRO.

Here is my projected starting OL as soon as Shelton returns:

Jackson
Shelton
Allen
Aboushi
Hav

I think that that OL is infinitely better than we’ve been seeing during those horrible first 6 weeks. In fact, I believe that THAT OL can take us deep into the playoffs. Heck, Edwards, a former starter, can’t even make that starting lineup!

Obviously, the O skill players still have to do their jobs, too, but I’m sure that that will happen.
