With all the offensive issues and injuries it's easy to say offense. Seems logical. Could very well happen.
But I do wonder a few things. With Aboushi there this year and longer term OG under contract (Bruss, Anchrum, Shelton), not to mention Jackson who can clearly play guard or tackle, I'm not sure they would acquire an interior OL right now by trade unless it's a bargain deal (like Corbett in 2019).
RB? I think they might base that on Williams' timetable to return. As the OL goes so goes the running game so if they get Allen and Shelton back maybe they don't need a RB?
So I come back to edge rusher. It was the trade deadline target back in the preseason and it should be now. While they're a top-10 defense they're simply getting very little pass rush from anyone besides Donald and they need help both short- and long-term. A quality edge rusher and getting back the injured CBs after the bye could potentially give them a top-5 defense. If it were a deal for Burns or Chubb or someone similar they would need an extension in place. I agree with Jourdan that they can't count on Donald playing past 2023 so maybe acquiring Burns to pair with AD now with an eye on building around him in 2024 and 2025 is the best long-term investment.
Overall I do not want to lose either their 2023 2nd round pick or 2024 1st. But we'll see what the market dictates. As far as players they might trade away to get help I still come back to Rapp with of course Akers now too.
