I think Jefferson gets a raw deal from a lot of fans. He's a quality WR3. Can't we just let him be that? To me it's like complaining that Az Hakim wasn't Bruce or Holt. VJ was rated 52nd among all WRs by Football Outsiders last year. 97th by PFF. He's a good player. Not a great one. That's ok...
Now, next spring IF they re-sign OBJ
and he remains healthy AND if Skowronek or McCutcheon further develops then maybe- maybe- you entertain the idea then. There would be a $1.4M cap savings in 2023 if traded.
I agree with those that say it's very unlikely they extend him. So then in 2023- maybe. Now? I don't buy the shift away from 11 personnel thing when McVay has run
the most 11 personnel in the league for the last 5 years. He's not changing now all of a sudden. Jefferson played 875 snaps last year (50/game) and I see no one on the roster ready right now to take that on.
I don't want to send him to Green Bay when they might see them in January. And I sure don't want to move him so that they can keep a 3rd QB. I'm not for creating unnecessary holes in the roster in order to net some 2024 6th round pick.
