I'm not sure how much capital a team is supposed to invest in their QB3 spot and to 'push' their QB2. Perez was brought in as a 4th camp arm behind Perkins and, if anything, to compete for the QB3 spot. Wolford missed most all of camp and preseason last year with the appendix surgery. Valuable time and reps that any QB2 needs and that he is now getting (and more with them limiting Stafford somewhat).
He is largely unproven but so are most backup QBs and most teams like them that way. I hope he gets a lot of preseason work and reps in the practices vs. CIN to see where he really is. Perkins got basically every rep in the three 2021 preseason games. I hope it's more like 40/30/30 among the three backups this year.
