I don't see myself as optimistic. I furrow my brows knowing that the Rams had a SB winning squad in 1999 and 3 years later fell off a cliff. The current regime seems much more stable and I love the way they do business. I have no skin in the game, but see the Hill signing as a replacement for Darious. Sure, he could go to the slot, but I think we have tons of capable slot defenders. Long has the job as of now. He came in strong at the end of the season. He has the pedigree as a 3rd round pick from Michigan who had a nasty D. Rochelle has the measurables, but hasn't shown himself ready. The rookies? Kind of late picks who could surprise, but do you really want to trust your heavyweight belt with them?
There's also Burgess who could play CB or S and maybe he can step up. Not worried. We see the same thing in the punter. McSnead May believe that we won't be punting a lot. But, many games are decided in ST play. Hekker was the best.
